Penny Arcade's On The Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 App Reviews

Nearly perfect.

I suppose all Id wish for were more options in weaponry and maybe a timer, so I know how many hours Ive spent playing this masterwork. The class system is unique and smart and I also enjoyed the magic system, though Id like to be able to caster larger spells slightly more often with my casters, even if it required grinding or some purchase I had to save up for. Overall, great story with great writing, if youre into PAs style. I have to say this drew me in more than Cthulu, but that may be because of my 10 year connection with PA and its cast of characters. Kudos, Mike and Jerry. Youve really outdone yourselves this time. Thanks also to Zeboyd and Tinkerhouse Games for making this possible and creating such a fluid, perfect vehicle for a narrative.

I dug it

Fun little game. Exactly the kind of rpg I wanted to play, with well written humor.

Excellent!

I loved the first two, and this one changed it up. Could have fallen on their faces but they nailed it.

Excellent and Hilarious

Obviously its hilarious, but the underlying gameplay is tremendous as well. Bump up the difficulty for a legitimate challenge. Despite the (highly) linear nature of the story, has replay value due to the rich, mix-and-match multi-class system offering a large variety of builds and combinations that will radically change your combat style. 10 hours per play through for crazy low prize. Highly, highly recommend.

Penny Arcade does 16-bit Final Fantasy!!

If the title alone doesnt excite you, consider the great writing, lack if random fights (well, mostly...lol!), 2 sub classes to alter your party members with, and solid controls all to be worth far more than the asking price. Only possible downside is the cliffhanger ending & its 1 gb of data. Love it!!

Good game

Good game. Fights are either hard or too easy and I found myself not using half the classes except for star boosts. But I liked the concept and different way the item system worked.

Overall, excellent.

Though yall should be aware of a glitch; theres been a couple of times that Ive reloaded from save because I accidentally skipped dialogue; in one instance, I loaded the auto save that happens just when you acquire Anne-Claire, and somehow got two of her. Actions and spells seem to work the same, but she gains double MP

Hilarious Retro Brilliance for the New Age

The stars have aligned, and the Old Ones have smiled upon this digital construction! A gorgeously retro production with smart modern design elements, Rain Slick 3 is a true delight! It is witty, challenging, and sports a reasonable iPad interface, everything I could ever ask for in a portable RPG. Thanks Tycho & Zeboyd, you knocked this one out of the park!

Great game with a few minor issues

The game is great! Its just a lot of fun its also pretty funny. However, there are a few minor issues: 1) there is no icon support so if you have multiple devices it doesnt keep track of your saves between; 2) controls are little bit finicky but its only proving to be a minor annoyance; and 3) on the iPad with retina display some of the interface graphics look like poorly compressed jpegs. It would be great these got addressed but its definitely not stopping me from immensely enjoying this game

Buy This

I put down Earthbound to play this. If that is not the best endorsement for a game you have ever heard, I dont know whats wrong with you. I recently found the Colisseum in the game and have spent like two days just fighting monsters over and over, I love the fighting system.

Great game!

penny arcade is the best

Solid

Its old-school rpg gaming goodness coupled with some great writing. Its a decent length, but not overwhelming; no grinding required, you dont have to look hard to get all the treasure chests, and you max out your classes just in time for the end of the game. Very enjoyable.

Good RPG, controls suffer

Art style also doesnt seem to scale properly to an iPad.

More fun than SNES emulation

Classic SNES style fight everything, make sure that you get all your class pins to level 40. This is the first game Ive finished in quite a while, buy it!

A Whole load of fun

I have had so much fun with this game very good value

Awesome retro style RPG

Funny story, great retro gameplay, and cool class system make this game a real treat. Cant wait for another sequel.

Most fun since FFVI

This game hit all my sweet spots, like it was engineered to send neurotransmitters to my brain. Thank you so much for making this game and if you want to make more, I will buy the heck out of it.

Amazing but...

I love the game, it has a ton of really funny humour, a decent amount of inside jokes for people who have read the comics, and some amazing gameplay. The controls are a little wonky though. Not a huge problem but just a tad annoying.

iCloud support missing

Exceptional Retro RPG

This is not like so many of the bland and generic RPGs available on the App Store. This game offers the level of quality youd find in a well rated snes rpg 17 years ago, with a sense of humor that is both clever and fitting. For RPG fans this is the best available on iOS short of the $10 mark, and possibly the best that isnt a port of some classic from over a decade ago.
